John & Tara's Wedding @ 3,842 Meters
This really was an unusual phone call.
It began with the question ''would you be available to photograph a wedding on top of the Auguille du midi?''.
Now, the Auguille Du Midi is a place that is very well known to myself having been a resident of Chamonix Mont Blanc for nearly 13 years but to those of you that do not know of it, the Augullie du Midi is the gateway to the famous ''Vallee Blanche'' one of the best off piste ski routes in the world. It also is also boasts spectaclar views of the Mont Blanc and is one of the highest cable car's in europe at a staggering altitude of 3,842 meters.
The phone call was from Monica Delevaux who runs a specialist wedding planning company based here in Chamonix Mont Blanc. I have worked with Monica on many weddings in Chamonix and other areas of France and always enjoy working with this fantastic wedding agency.
So the brief was set and what an occasion it was for the wonderful couple who came from Squaw Valley, California.
On the morning of the wedding I took some casual photographs of the couple at the bottom of the cable car and then when we arrived at the top of the Midi cable car, John & Tara relaxed together and I feel like I managed to capture the magic that this couple obviously have.
The service was held at the top of the Viewing platform where a friend of theirs conducted the service.
With Mont Blanc in the background it proved to be a majestic backdrop like no other.
After the ceremony and celebrations at the top I watched them walk down the deadly arret, put their ski's on and head off down the 28 kilometer glacier, friends in tow.
A truely origional departure from a wedding ceremony!
